Vietnam-based Dragon Capital hopes to list its flagship Vietnamese equity fund on the London Stock Exchange in early July.
Founded in 1995, the closed-ended fund is established in the Cayman Islands and currently listed on the Irish Stock Exchange. The fund, Vietnam Enterprise Investments Limited (VEIL), invests in listed and unlisted equities.
Dominic Scriven, executive chairman, says the new listing will allow the fund to reach new clients. "Increased access and transparency will overcome barriers for a number of institutional and retail investors," he said.
The news comes in the same week as US President Barack Obama's visit to Vietnam in which he announced the lifting of an embargo on exports of weaponry to the country.
Earlier this year, Dragon Capital, which has $1.3 billion under management, said it would merge its Vietnam Growth Fund with the VEIL fund.
