The global head of distribution and marketing at asset manager Barings will move from North Carolina to Sydney to take on the additional role of head of Asia Pacific.
Duncan Robertson, who joined the firm in Sydney in 2008, has already played a significant part in expanding the company's business in the Asian region.
“Our global capabilities allow us to offer opportunities across various countries, asset classes and risk profiles, but it’s our local, in-market teams that ensure we are meeting the needs of our clients with the right solutions,” he said.
Separately, Barings has hired Shelley Liu as country head of China. The company recently gained approval to set up an investment management wholly foreign-owned enterprise in Shanghai.
Barings began life as a firm of merchant bankers in London in 1762. In 2005, part of the firm's asset management division was acquired by US life insurance firm MassMutual Financial Group, which last year merged the business with three other asset managers.
