Daiwa SB Investments launches Luxembourg fund

Miyajima_gateTokyo-based Daiwa SB Investments has launched a Luxembourg-domiciled version of its $600 million Japanese small-cap equity fund. The DSBI Japan Equity Small Cap Absolute Value Ucits fund will recreate a strategy the firm has run since 2004. Tatsuro Nigauri is the lead portfolio manager. “We have launched the fund in response to investor demand for a high return strategy investing in small and micro cap stocks in Japan,” said Eiji Fukumuro, managing director of DSBI UK. Fukumuro said Nigauri's team had a good knowledge of the market, meeting an average of three or four companies a day to do research.
