Cecilia Chan has been appointed as chief investment officer (CIO) for Asia-Pacific at HSBC Global Asset Management (GAM).
Chan will assume the role from February 1, reporting to global CIO Joanna Munro.
She replaces Bill Maldonado, who was also CIO for global equities and is leaving to pursue other opportunities after nearly 30 years with the firm.
Chan was most recently CIO for fixed income in Asia Pacific. Having joined HSBC GAM in 1994, she has also been head of global research, Asia and COO for hedge fund, HSBC Halbis.
“[Chan’s] deep knowledge of the region, coupled with her robust technical skills make her the ideal CIO to lead the expansion of our investment capabilities,” said Munro.
