J Safra Sarasin launches India ESG fund

Indian stocksSwiss fund manager J Safra Sarasin (JSS) has launched an India-focused ESG Ucits fund designed to provide exposure to India’s growing consumer base and also meet the growing demand for sustainable investment. The JSS Responsible Equity India fund will be managed by Ajay Tyagi, a portfolio manager from Indian fund manager, UTI Mutual Fund. The fund launch states JSS has been driven by the favourable demographics and sound policy reforms plus the fact that India’s economy is forecast to become the third largest in the world over the next decade. According to Tyagi, the fund will “operate at the trisection of quality, growth and responsible investing”. “Our high quality, high growth strategy in India has been able to deliver alpha consistently over the last decade,” he said. “Within this portfolio, we have observed that companies that measure up well on the responsible framework have done even better.” © 2020 funds global Asia
