Legg Mason appoints new APAC head

Asia_globeGlobal asset manager Legg Mason has promoted Andy Sowerby as head of Asia Pacific (ex-Japan). He continues to be based in Melbourne for the newly expanded role. He will also maintain his current role as managing director for Legg Mason’s Australia and New Zealand office, a position he has held since August 2016, and will continue to report to global head of distribution Terry Johnson. Sowerby has held a number of senior distribution-related positions in the past including board level roles at Investec and Martin Currie, an investment affiliate of Legg Mason. “His management experience, coupled with his strong track record over the past three years leading our Australasian business, has made him the ideal candidate to take on additional responsibilities in this region,” said Johnson. He replaces outgoing regional head for Asia (ex-Japan), Lennie Lim who will be retiring in March 2020 after a 30 year career which includes 12 years with Legg Mason. ©2019 funds global asia
