Neuberger Berman has launched a Ucits fund focused on 5G connectivity.
The global equity portfolio provides investors exposure to key enablers and beneficiaries of 5G and to a “future connectivity” theme that includes network infrastructure and the Internet of Things.
Co-managed by Neuberger Berman portfolio managers YT Boon in Hong Kong and Hari Ramanan in New York, the strategy focuses on companies where more than half of future earnings growth will be driven by 5G enablement or adoption, according to the asset manager.
ESG – or environmental, social and governance – factors will also be analysed in the portfolio, which will consist of between 40 and 60 stocks.
According to co-portfolio manager YT Boon, it is estimated that 5G will enable $13.2 trillion (€12.1 trillion) of economic opportunities by 2035, as well as create over 22 million jobs.
“Active management will be key to identifying the winners and losers of this long-term secular theme as the market continues to evolve,” he said.
Neuberger Berman launched its first 5G strategy in Asia in 2017, which now manages over $4.2 billion.
