French bank Societe Generale has hired Rajat Kohli, formerly of BNP Paribas, as its head of global markets in India. He replaces Gopal Bhattacharya, who is leaving the group.
Kohli is charged with developing the bank's capital market activities, including derivatives, foreign exchange and rupee-based products.
A graduate of the Indian Institute of Management in Lucknow, Kohli worked at BNP Paribas for 11 years, most recently as head of institutional business in its global markets division.
In his new role, he will report to Evelyne Collin, Societe Generale's chief country officer for India, and to Arnaud Lhoste, head of markets sales for South East Asia and India.
Kohli will be based in Mumbai.
