State Street Global Advisors hires Korean head

Korean_flag_and_buildingsState Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has appointed Tae Jong Um in the newly created role of head of Korea. Um joins the company from index provider MSCI Korea, where he was managing director and head of Korea. He is based in Seoul. “Dr. Um brings immense value to our business given his very strong investment and technical background, as well as his experience in strategic business management,” said June Wong, head of Asia ex Japan at SSGA. Before joining MSCI, Um was chief investment officer for global investment at Samsung Asset Management. He has a PhD in economics from Cornell University in the US.
