JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has hired Shizuko Ohmi as the head of investment stewardship for Japan.
Based in Tokyo, Ohmi will oversee the firm’s ESG agenda in Japan and will report to Jennifer Wu, global head of sustainable investing. She will also be responsible for leading corporate engagement with Japanese investments and directing proxy voting.
Ohmi joins JPMAM from Amundi, where she spent nearly 17 years and most recently served as the head of the ESG department since 2015.
Commenting on Ohmi’s appointment, Wu said: “Ohmi-san has extensive expertise from more than 20 years as an equity research analyst, much of it covering industries such as chemicals, textiles and oil exploration and refineries.
“With a dedicated focus on ESG since 2015, she brings impressive technical and analytical knowledge together with a dedicated focus on sustainability and corporate governance,” added Wu.
