Institutional crypto custodian Zodia Custody has appointed Kal Chan as chief executive of its Hong Kong business.
He will be expected to lead the firm’s growth in Hong Kong and the Asian region.
Zodia Custody is jointly owned by Standard Chartered, Northern Trust and SBI and currently operates in Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and Singapore, as well as in the UK, Ireland and Luxembourg.
“Hong Kong isn’t just a major hub for digital assets in Asia, it is leading the world in showing the pathway to mainstream adoption,” said Chan.
“Hong Kong represents a major opportunity for both us and the digital asset ecosystem around the world — we are dedicated to being at the front and centre of this hotbed of innovation and development,” he added.
Chan joins from Canadian digital assets infrastructure provider Aquanow, where he was in charge of business development for the Apac region.
He has also worked for Intercontinental Exchange and Cboe Global Markets, leading their digital asset efforts in Asia.
